From Smart to Sustainable to Grid-Friendly: A Generic Planning Framework for Enabling the Transition Between Smart Home Archetypes

چکیده
The concept of nearly zero energy (nZE) or sustainable buildings is prominently featured in the EU's strategy. However, transitioning to envisioned era “smartness” and “sustainability” involves overcoming several technoeconomic barriers: difference nature between different building archetypes, simultaneous management daily yearly objectives by system (EMS), impact on distribution grids required modelling detail. Focusing addressing such concerns scope residential sector, this work proposes a generic mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) framework for smart appliances (conventional new advanced approaches) as well seamless transition homes from passive smart, finally grid-friendly entities. includes an adaptive rolling horizon strategy accounting nZE objective cost-grid trade-off handling flexibility requests. all developed models are validated scenarios, including comprehensive sensitivity analysis.

From Data to Knowledge to Action: Enabling the Smart Grid
Our nation’s infrastructure for generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity – “The Grid” – is a relic based in many respects on century-old technology. It consists of expensive, centralized generation via large plants, and a massive transmission and distribution system. It strives to deliver high-quality power to all subscribers simultaneously – no matter what their demand – and must...
متن کاملPrivacy-Friendly Aggregation for the Smart-Grid
The widespread deployment of smart meters for electricity gas and water consumption to modernise the electricity systems, has been associated with privacy concerns. In this paper, we present protocols that can be used to privately compute aggregate meter measurements, allowing for fraud and leakage detection as well as further statistical processing of meter measurements, without revealing any ...
متن کاملA New Framework for Increasing the Sustainability of Infrastructure Measurement of Smart Grid
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is one of the most significant applications of the Smart Grid. It is used to measure, collect, and analyze data on power consumption. In the AMI network, the smart meters traffics are aggregated in the intermediate aggregators and forwarded to the Meter Data Management System (MDMS). The infrastructure used in this network should be reliable, real-time an...
متن کاملSmart Grid for a Sustainable Future
Advances in micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and information communication technology (ICT) have facilitated the development of integrated electrical power systems for the future. A recent major issue is the need for a healthy and sustainable power transmission and distribution system that is smart, reliable and climate-friendly. Therefore, at the start of the 21 Century, Government, uti...
متن کاملA Generic Framework for the Evaluation of the Benefits Expected from the Smart Grid
The Smart Grid has the potential to bring significant value to the various stakeholders of the electricity market. A methodology for the evaluation of the smart grid benefits is required to facilitate the decision making by quantifying the benefits expected from a smart grid project. The present paper proposes a generic framework to assess these expected benefits taking into account the regulat...
